Manufacturers with micro sized parts benefit with the ability to see inside
where regular scanning technology cannot.
July 1, 2016 – Minnetonka, Minnesota – QC Group, LLC, the premier quality service provider for the manufacturing industry, now utilizes a Wenzel “S” series scanner which expands their ability to resolve the smallest features to reverse engineering and inspection of micro-sized parts for both internal and external geometries. This addition offers resolutions of .0002” and accuracies of .0002”, with a chamber size of 3.5” x 2.5”. For larger applications, QC Group still utilizes the Wenzel M200HE series with accuracy of .0003, max resolution of .003, and a chamber size of 8” x 12.”
CT scanning is used to capture three-dimensional representations of internal and external features. QC Group primarily uses CT technology for failure analysis, dimensional inspection, and reverse engineering applications. Moreover, QC Group is able to provide quick validation of a part-to-CAD or part-to-part to determine deviations from the preliminary design. While we offer many methods for scanning, this option is the most effective for non-destructive testing and analysis for such parts as implantable medical devices and aerospace engine components.
“We work with medical device and aerospace manufacturers that have highly complex features and are only accessible through CT scanning,” details QC Group’s Engineering Manager, Steve Traynor. “We pride ourselves on offering the best scanning solutions for complex metrology and geometry recreation projects. Projects that used to be too micro or too precise, are now well within our capabilities.”
Established in 1986 as QC Inspection Services (QCIS), QC Group, LLC has grown to be one of the largest service providers in quality – working across a broad variety of industries to solve quality challenges, and help companies grow with capacity and capability. Now with four laboratories, three accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and ITAR registered, and sister company NDT Labs accredited to NADCAP, QC Group, LLC remains as manufacturers’ go to experts for contract dimensional inspection, reverse engineering, 3D scanning, 3D modeling, and non-destructive testing services.
