As supporters of STEM education, QC Group financially backs the Lazybotts robotics team who recently lost school funding due to budget and space restrictions.
March 4, 2016 – Minnetonka, Minnesota – As members of the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) workforce, QC Group identifies with the importance of supporting and growing STEM related knowledge in the community. The issue of whether there are enough qualified workers in STEM continues to percolate and cause concern for the future of our economy. That’s why QC Group recently became sponsors of the Eden Prairie Robotics team, Lazybotts.
In November, the company hosted a tour and completed a 3D scanning project which aided in the creation of the team’s customized remote control to be used for the 2015-2016 FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). FTC is an educational robotics competition targeted toward middle and high school-aged students. It offers a fun, competitive experience where students design, build, and program a robot to perform a specific set of tasks. The ultimate goal of FTC is for students to discover the excitement and rewards of STEM.
“The 2015-2016 season is the fourth year of FTC competition for our team. Each year we learn about many new technologies including how to design mechanisms using CAD software, electrical wiring, computer programming, quality controls and testing, and most importantly how to work together as a team,” details Rachel Davis, sophomore at Eden Prairie High School and team captain of Lazybotts. “Our success has earned us a spot at the FTC North Super Regional Championship in Des Moines Iowa March 17-19, 2016.”
